Magnet Releasing has set its sight on “I Saw the Devil,” snagging North American rights to Kim Jeewoon’s serial killer thriller which screened at the Toronto Film Fest.
The latest from the helmer (“The Good, the Bad, the Weird”) follows a special agent on a twisted revenge mission after his wife is murdered by a serial killer.
Over the summer, “I Saw The Devil” was banned from theaters in Korea for explicit scenes of human body parts. The helmer agreed to several edits before the Korean film board granted the picture an 18 plus rating.
Set for release during the first quarter of 2011, the film’s negotiations were handled by Tom Quinn from Magnet and Youngjoo Suh from Finecut.
