‘Limite’ to unspool at Films From the South

Brazilian Peixoto's cult pic restored by Scorsese's WCF

The 20th Films From the South fest in Oslo, Norway will hold a special screening of Brazilian helmer-scribe Mario Peixoto’s 1931 cult masterpiece “Limite” on Oct. 10.

The pic, newly restored by Martin Scorsese’s nonprofit World Cinema Foundation, will unspool at a gala hosted by Crown Prince Haakon of Norway and Norwegian multihyphenate Liv Ullmann. Screening will take place at the Norwegian Opera and features a new score to be performed live by Norwegian composer Bugge Wesseltoft and Brazilians Nana Vasconcelos, Marlui Miranda and Rodolfo Stroeter.

Dedicated to films from Asia, Africa and Latin America, the fest runs Oct. 7-17 and will bow all 12 pics restored by the WCF. Proceeds from the Oct. 10 event will go to support the foundation’s work.
