Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, creators of “The Office” and “Extras,” are collaborating on new laffer featuring Warwick Davis, the diminutive thesp familiar to film fans from “Star Wars” and “Harry Potter.”
Dubbed “Life’s Too Short,” the 30-minute, single-camera pilot is “an observation comedy which follows Warwick’s day-to-day life in a small world where big things happen,” per the BBC, which has greenlighted the project.
Gervais and Merchant will appear in minor roles.
“We’re having so much fun working with Warwick,” Gervais said of the actor who is 3 feet, 6 inches tall. “Pound for pound, he is one of the funniest men I know.”
Show was commissioned by BBC2 controller Janice Hadlow and the controller of BBC comedy commissioning Cheryl Taylor.
