Kitano to make ‘Outrage’ sequel

Original was hit with auds after 10-year absence from genre

Helmer Takeshi Kitano will make a sequel to his Cannes competition player “Outrage” via his Office Kitano.

“Outrage 2” is skedded for a fall 2011 release, but story and cast have yet to be decided.

Warner Bros. Intl. is reportedly back on board as distrib.

Original pic, about a bloody gang war, opened in Japan on June 26 and scored a respectable $9 million B.O., with demo skewing strongly male.

It was Kitano’s return to Yakuza epics after 10 years pursuing more arty films that have received an indifferent reception from local auds.
