LONDON — Alex Kingston and Jodie Whittaker are to star in “The Oaks,” the first project from a collaboration between ITV Studios and Fox.
Other cast members include Dean Andrews (“Ashes to Ashes” and “Life on Mars”), and Jamie Thomas King, whose credits include “Mad Men” and “The Tudors.”
The five-part supernatural drama is based on the original Fox pilot created by David Schulner.
Show was originally prepped for Fox’s 2008-09 season and tipped as a potential rival to “Desperate Housewives” and “Grey’s Anatomy,” but Fox decided to nix the program.
“The Oaks,” the story of a haunted house occupied by three different families over three decades, grew out of a 2008 deal between ITV Studios and Fox.
Idea was to identify properties on their respective slates that could be developed for the other’s domestic market.
The U.K. series is scripted by Stephen Greenhorn, whose credits include “Doctor Who.”
James Kent (“The Secret Diaries of Miss Anne Lister” and “Margaret”) is helming “The Oaks.”
Producer is Chrissy Skinns, who produced the Billie Piper vehicle “Secret Dairy of a Call Girl.”
ITV drama topper Laura Mackie said: “‘The Oaks’ is a really original concept that blends relationship drama with an atmospheric ghost story.”
Show is filming on location around London.
