Cast members to attend gala

LONDON — Colin Firth starrer “The King’s Speech” will open the seventh edition of the Dubai Intl. Film Festival on Dec. 12.

Pic, helmed by Tom Hooper, has gathered considerable buzz at various fests since it unspooled at Toronto in September. Some of the pic’s cast members are expected to be on hand in the emirate for the pic’s festival launch.

Story follows the true-life tale of King George VI and his battle with a speech impediment as he leads Blighty on the eve of World War II. Geoffrey Rush, Helena Bonham Carter and Guy Pearce also star in the pic.

This year’s Dubai fest runs Dec. 12-19.
