Just for Laughs adds celebrity power

Wayne Brady among stars joining Toronto event

TORONTO — Toronto’s Just for Laughs Festival ups the yuks for its fourth edition, which runs July 6-11, adding four venues and more celebrity power, thanks to last year’s sold-out auds.

Today’s preliminary lineup announcement taps improv maestro Wayne Brady, Comedy Central star Demitri Martin, Brad Garrett (“Everybody Loves Raymond”) and touring sensation Louis CK to host four of the fest’s six Gala showcases — evenings of standup and theatrics.

Special concert events at the fest include “Parks and Recreation” star Aziz Ansari’s Dangerously Delicious Tour, and the Young@Heart Chorus, the senior singing ensemble from Walker George’s 2007 docu.

Toronto’s Winter Garden Theater will host The Relationship Show, featuring “The Marriage Ref”s” Tom Papa and SNL alum Jim Breuer, as well as the ALF Comedy showcase hosted by Andy Kindler.

The inaugural Flying Solo Series of edgy performers includes Brit Noel Fielding (“The Mighty Boosh”), Daniel Packard’s Live Group Sex Therapy and German comedy sensation Michael Mittermeier.

Fest will also offer a range of club and sketch series, including the world premiere of Toronto’s Second City Theatre’s “Stephen Harper: The Musical,” a comedy tribute to Canada’s prime minister.
