Japanese cabler to offer 1,000 episodes a year

TOKYO — Jupiter Telecommunications (J:Com), Japan’s largest cabler, will bow a specialty VOD channel for Warner Bros. TV series, the company announced on Wednesday.

Called Warner TV, the channel will launch on July 15 and plans to offer 1,000 episodes annually, including those of the long-running medico drama “ER.” Some shows will be exclusive to J:Com.

J:Com is already offering more than 25,000 episodes on VOD, though its tie-up with Warner will allow it to greatly expand its programming lineup.
