LONDON — The best-selling story of President Obama’s 2008 election campaign, “Renegade: The Making of a President,” has been optioned by ITV Studios and upstart U.K. shingle Open TV and Film for a miniseries.
Book’s author Richard Wolffe was given hefty access to the future President during the run-up to his winning the White House.
Open, who will produce the skein, is in talks with webs in the U.K., U.S. and mainland Europe regarding potential licensing deals and hopes to hire a writer soon.
Open TV chairman Simon Shaps said: “We are serious about making a quality piece about one of the most extraordinary political stories of the past few decades — the rise of Obama.”
ITV Studios U.S. topper Paul Buccieri hailed “Renegade: The Making of a President” as “a fascinating book about a sea change in the American political landscape.”
