Italian shingle Filmmaster is opening a Los Angeles arm to expand film production, tapping former Venice Biennale U.S. rep Eleonora Granata to head it.
With offices in Milan, Rome and Dubai, Filmmaster forged a joint venture with Italy’s Cinecitta Studios last year, providing it with vital leverage for foreign productions as well as access to tax relief.
A new film law in Italy has been luring international co-productions to the country.
“This puts Italy on a level playing field with some countries in Europe, which have been offering tax incentives to lure foreign productions,” Granata said.
Exec was formerly the VP of acquisitions at Turner Pictures, senior VP of production at Pandora Cinema, and has represented some of the most important international film festivals, besides Venice.
