Anica stages showcase and meetings

MADRID — Italo producers’ industry org Anica is launching 3 Italian Film Days, its first Paris movie showcase and industry meet.

Running March 24-26 at Paris’ Cinema Le Nouveau Latina, the nine-pic lineup is bookended by Marco Risi’s “Fortapasc” and Francesca Archibugi’s “A Question of the Heart.”

3 Days also features a roundtable on France-Italy co-production on March 24 and a panel on Italy’s new tax rebate for international shoots the follwoing day.

Anica prexy Ricardo Tozzi said the event is the industry’s first overseas institutional step to seek partners and markets abroad, as the days seem numbered for Italy’s traditional direct subsidy system at home.

Italian culture minister Sandro Bondi recently said that direct film subsidies should be limited to debut films by young directors.
