Producer Simone Bachini to be given tribute
ROME — Oscar-winning producer Nicolas Chartier (“The Hurt Locker”) will be feted by Italy’s eighth Ischia Global Film and Music Festival, the summer showbiz shindig running July 11-18 on the island resort off the Neapolitan coast.
Chartier and producer Simone Bachini’s, who shepherded Italy’s recently pluriprized drama “The Man Who Will Come,” helmed by Giorgio Diritti, will both receive Ischia’s producer of the year nods.
Ischia, a sister event to Capri Hollywood, will include a high-profile confab on the future of film in the digital age with boatloads of Hollywood and Italo industry industryites booked.
Yank contingent expected to come hobnob with Italo bizzers includes Nu Image topper Avi Lerner, MGM worldwide television prexy Gary Marenzi, producer Heidi Jo Markel (“Solitary Man”) and multihyphenate Fisher Stevens (“The Cove”).
Italos will comprise Aurelio De Laurentiis, maker of Italy’s highest grossing titles, RAI Cinema topper Paolo Del Brocco, Sky Italia exec Andrea Scrosati and Bim Distribuzione chief Valerio De Paolis.
Peter Fonda and Italo helmer Carlo Vanzina will hold masterclasses for film students.
Screenings will include “Knight and Day,” Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps” and Stephen Frears’ “Tamara Drewe,” which will be the opener.
