“Mamma Gogo,” helmed by Fridrik Thor Fridriksson and produced by Fridriksson and Gudrun Edda Thorhanesdotir for Hughrif/Spellbound Prods., has been tapped as Iceland’s choice for a foreign language Oscar nomination.
Pic is a dark comedy about an old woman suffering from Alzheimer’s disease, based on the helmer’s own mother´s illness. Five of Fridriksson’s films have been Iceland’s Oscar submissions. In 1992, “Children of Nature” got a nomination.
