Granada to produce German ‘Dance’

RTL signs up for third series of BBC format

LONDON — ITV Studios is to produce a third series of “Strictly Come Dancing” — known in the U.S. as “Dancing With the Stars” — for RTL Germany via wholly owned subsidiary Granada Germany.

In Germany, the BBC Worldwide format is known as “Let’s Dance.” The eight two-hour 15 minute shows will bow April 9 at 9.15 p.m.

RTL Television entertainment topper Tom Saenger said: “We have renewed the format for the new series with a new host, a new judging panel and a new look.

“‘Let’s Dance’ supplements our music shows ‘Deutschland sucht den Superstar’ (the German version of “American Idol”) und ‘Das Supertalent’ (the German version of “Britain’s Got Talent”) in an excellent way.”
