Winners also include 'Parks,' 'Pledge'

ABC drama “Brothers and Sisters” and Lifetime movie “Prayers for Bobby” were among the recipients of the GLAAD Media Awards, handed out Saturday in New York.

Also honored at the Marriott Marquis ceremony were the “Pawnee Zoo” episode of NBC’s “Parks and Recreation” and an episode of “The Oprah Winfrey Show” featuring Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi. Outstanding daily drama went to ABC soap “One Life to Live.”

“Little Ashes” was recognized in the limited-release film category.

Other winners included CNN’s news segment “Why Will Won’t Pledge Allegiance” on “American Morning” and the “Uganda Be Kidding Me” segment of MSNBC’s “The Rachel Maddow Show.”

Joy Behar picked up the Excellence in Media Award for her LGBT advocacy on ABC’s “The View” as well as her continued representation and increased visibility of LGBT-specific issues on her HLN talkshow, “The Joy Behar Show.”

Also, “Sex and the City” thesp Cynthia Nixon was honored with the Vito Russo Award for promoting equality.

Outstanding novella went to Telemundo’s “Mas Sabe el Diablo.”

Additional GLAAD kudos will be awarded in Los Angeles on April 17 at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza and in San Francisco on June 5 at the Westin St. Francis.
