Pic is follow up to 'Mia and the Migoo'

Director-producer Jacques-Remy Girerd will follow up “Mia and the Migoo,” which won last year’s European Film Academy toonpic prize, with “Tante Hilda.”

Pic is set up at Girerd’s Folimage. He has almost finished the storyboard from a script he wrote with Iouri Tcherenkov and Benoit Chieux, who worked on “Mia.”

“Hilda” is a comedy turning on an eccentric aunt, “who is everything to everyone,” Girerd said at the Annecy Animation Festival Wednesday.

As with “Migoo,” “Hilda” will also boast strong ecological values. “I believe in edutainment,” Girerd said.

“Hilda” will be ready for delivery early 2013.

Girerd is also developing a TV series on health and diet entitled “C’est bon.”

Girerd presented Folimage’s third animated feature, “A Cat in Paris,” in Annecy’s Work in Progress section.

The 2D, hand-drawn toon is directed by Jean-Loup Felicioli and Alain Gagnol. Screenplay is by Gagnol, a crime novel writer.

“It’s a police thriller for children,” said Girerd, centering on a cat who leads a double life. “A Cat in Paris” opens in France and Belgium on Dec. 15. Gebeka Films will handle French distribution; Films Distribution has international rights.
