‘Ghost’ musical to haunt U.K.

Bruce Joel Rubin to adapt screenplay

LONDON — A tuner adaptation of the 1990 hit movie “Ghost” will haunt U.K. stages in 2011 with a seven-week tryout at the Opera House, Manchester from March 28 prior to a projected West End run.

Bruce Joel Rubin will adapt his original Oscar-winning screenplay and music and lyrics are by Grammy award winning Dave Stewart (The Eurthymics) and Glen Ballard. The production is helmed by Tony-winner Matthew Warchus (“The God of Carnage,” “The Norman Conquests”).

“Ghost — The Musical” reunites Warchus, set and costume designer Rob Howell and musical supervisor and arranger Christopher Nightingale, all of whom worked on the flop tuner version of “The Lord of the Rings.”

Casting has yet to be announced.
