Germany’s TNT nabs ‘Empire’

Prohibition-era series to air early next year

BERLIN — Pay TV channel TNT Serie has picked up HBO’s Prohibition-era series “Boardwalk Empire” just days after its stellar debut on the U.S. cabler.

Set in 1920s Atlantic City, Martin Scorsese and Terence Winter’s critically acclaimed ensemble series revolves around local political boss and racketeer Enoch “Nucky” Thompson, played by Steve Buscemi.

TNT Serie will begin airing the series early next year, broadcasting it on two audio channels, in the original English and with the German-dubbed soundtrack.

TNT Serie is one of five channels operated by Turner Broadcasting System in Germany. Others include TNT Film, children’s outlets Cartoon Network and Boomerang, and CNN International, as well as the Adult Swim comedy portal.
