Exec to be EVP of international marketing

LONDON — Ian George has been appointed as exec VP of international marketing at Paramount Pictures International and will leave his post as managing director for 20th Century Fox U.K.

He will take over from John Anderson, who will leave at the end of 2010 to return to his native Australia. Anderson headed up the marketing function for PPI since its 2007 inception and has presided over two consecutive robust years for the studio.

George leaves for PPI after four years at Fox, where he oversaw the release of “Avatar.” Previously he spent seven years at Pathe U.K., where he oversaw the marketing and distribution of more than 20 films per year. He also spent five years as marketing director for Warner Bros U.K. and has held posts for ad agencies Grey Entertainment and Media and FCO.

George is expected to take up his duties at Paramount this fall.
