LONDON — The BBC topper expected to be tapped as chief of BBC Vision, one of the biggest creative jobs in British television, has been handed the role on an acting basis.
George Entwistle is to run BBC Vision, which is responsible for overseeing all the BBC’s domestic channels, from Jan. 31, a week before existing Vision boss Jana Bennett begins her new job at BBC Worldwide, where she will run its international channels and its catchup service, Global iPlayer. It’s been suggested that the corp. will undertake an international search for a permanent successor to Bennett. Entwistle, whose background is in public affairs shows, is presently controller of knowledge commissioning and controller of editorial standards at BBC Vision.George Entwistle to steer BBC Vision
