Exec to be responsible for theatrical slate

LONDON — Kate Gardiner has been upped to head of Fox Searchlight U.K.

Gardiner will report to Ian George, 20th Century Fox U.K. managing director, and will work closely with Rebecca Kearey, senior VP of Fox Searchlight Intl., based in Los Angeles.

Gardiner will be responsible for overseeing the release of the Fox Searchlight slate in the U.K., with upcoming titles including “Cyrus,” “Never Let Me Go,” “Black Swan” and “The Descendants.”

Gardiner was formerly marketing manager at 20th Century Fox U.K., having joined in September 2006. During this time she managed the theatrical marketing campaigns for such films as “The Last King of Scotland,” “Notes on a Scandal,” “Juno,” “(500) Days of Summer” and “My Name Is Khan.”

Prior to joining Fox, Gardiner worked as marketing exec at BBC Films.
