French ‘Love’ gets a U.S. makeover

Sophie Marceau starrer to be remade by Nord-Ouest

In another sign of the booming remake market for French titles in the U.S., Robert J. Emery’s Coup d’Etat has optioned re-do rights to Sophie Marceau starrer “L’Age de raison” (With Love … From the Age of Reason).

Nord-Ouest will exec produce the American makeover. Films Distribution will look to broker financing on the remake. Gren Wells is on board to pen the script. Wells last penned “Earthbound,” a romantic comedy starring Gael Garcia Bernal and Kate Hudson.

The French-language “Love” is directed by Yann Samuell and produced by Christophe Rossignon at Nord-Ouest Films. Pic made its market debut at Cannes, and is being sold internationally by Films Distribution.

Gallic pic revolves around Margaret, a successful businesswoman who, on her 40th birthday, receives a letter from her 7-year-old self, reminding her of what she wanted to be when she grew up.
