Scandi company specializes in formats
LONDON — FremantleMedia has upped its stake in Scandinavian shingle Blu by a further 25% to give it full ownership.
No financial details were disclosed.
The global producer-distributor bought a majority stake in Blu five years ago.
Blu specializes in entertainment formats, adapting, among other shows, “X Factor” for Denmark as well as “Idols,” “Farmer Wants a Wife,” “Hole in the Wall” and dating format “Take Me Out.”
The shingle was founded by Henrik Hancke Nielsen, creator of “The Big Class Reunion,” “Can You Duet,” “Spoofed” and “Welcome Home.”
He is now an executive producer at FremantleMedia North America.
Move follows FremantleMedia’s acquisition of Dutch shingle FourOne Media, known locally for its soaps and sitcoms, announced April 16.
