Giant Gallic telco France-Telecom-Orange has jumped for “Glee,” with Orange licensing the hit U.S. series for its five-channel Orange Cinema Series premium paybox.
Deal was struck with Twentieth Century Fox TV Distribution. OCS’ pay TV window kicks in about 12 months before a terrestrial broadcast network bow.
Airing in June on OCS’ Cinehappy family channel, “Glee” is OCS’ flagship summer offer, with large pay potential on Orange’s budding mobile TV services.
“It’s both comedy and music-orientated so since we are more than just a pay TV operator, we can play ‘Glee’ on two levels: TV and music,” said Herve Payan, senior VP, Orange Content Division, Tuesday at Cannes Mip TV mart.
In France, Orange has 1 million mobile TV clients.
