Fox Intl. Prods. is making further inroads in Germany, teaming with Matthias Schweighoefer’s Pantaleon Films on romantic comedy “What a Man.”
A busy German actor, Schweighoefer will helm and star in the film, which is his feature directorial debut.
Pic is about teacher who takes lessons in being a real man after he’s dumped by his girlfriend.
Doron Wisotzky penned the script with Schweighoefer.
Schweighoefer, 29, has appeared in more than 50 TV series and films, including the two Til Schweiger “Rabbit Without Ears” pics, which grossed $115 million in Germany.
Pantaleon Films, based in Berlin and Frankfurt, is privately funded by Marco Beckmann, founder and CEO of a global high-tech investment company.
Gabriela Bacher, who brought in the project, is overseeing the film for FIP and working with Fox Germany managing director Vincent de La Tour to ready it for a 2011 release.
Christoph Waltz also is making his feature directorial debut for Sanford Panitch’s Fox Intl. Prods. Waltz will helm German romantic comedy “Auf und Davon” from his own script.
