'Network Star' judge named g.m. of cable net

Bob Tuschman has been upped to g.m. of Food Network.

Tuschman, who works closely with network prexy Brooke Johnson, was promoted to the position that was previously unheld. Formerly senior VP of programming and production, he will continue his previous responsibilities in addition to taking on the task of developing an overall strategic direction of the network.

Also a judge on popular skein “The Next Food Network Star,” Tuschman helped turn net’s signature chefs such as Rachael Ray, Giada De Laurentiis and Guy Fieri into household names.

Current top shows at Food include “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives,” “Chopped” and “Throwdown With Bobby Flay.”

Tuschman arrived at the Scripps cabler in 1998 following a turn as a producer at ABC News.
