Eurimages funds co-production awards

First award to be announced at CineLink

BRUSSELS — Three film co-production development awards, worth €30,000 ($36,500) each, have been announced by the Council of Europe’s Eurimages Fund.

Aim is to encourage co-production in the earliest stages of a film project, for creative rather than merely financial reasons. Awards will be given in collaboration with co-production markets at the Rotterdam, Rome and Sarajevo film fests.

Projects participating in the marts will be eligible for the award if they can show they started life as European co-productions. At least two of the 34 Eurimages countries must be involved.

First award will be announced at Sarajevo’s CineLink co-production mart, running July 28-31. Awards will follow at New Cinema Network in Rome and CineMart in Rotterdam.

Decisions to continue the development awards will be made annually.
