Joanna Shields joins new media debate
Shine topper Elisabeth Murdoch and Joanna Shields, former AOL social media and communications prexy, will give a a keynote presentation on developments in digital TV and entertainment at the Mip TV market in Cannes on April 13.
Murdoch, who since founding Shine in 2001 has created a global group of 24 production companies across three continents, will join Shields in exploring what they see as new frontiers in storytelling, demonstrating how “entertainment now extends beyond its conventional platforms with audiences programming their own experiences.”
Shields has wide experience in new media. As CEO of social networking website Bebo, she managed its acquisition by AOL for $850 million and was responsible for AOL’s social and instant messaging products.
Mip TV runs April 12-16. It is organized by Reed Midem, which is owned by Daily Variety parent Reed Elsevier.
