EFP plans Toronto workshop

Young Euro, Canuck producers to meet at fest

Up-and-coming European producers will get a chance to meet their Canadian counterparts in Toronto next month under a European Film Promotion professional laboratory scheme.

The EFP Producer Lab Toronto, a three-day workshop held in association with the Ontario Media Development Corp. and the Toronto Film Festival, will bring 24 young producers from the two continents together.

Designed for those with a track record of successful project development and experience of co-productions, participants are expected to have one project ready to pitch.

The lab, which takes place Sept. 10-12 during the festival, which runs Sept. 9-19, will include pitching sessions, one-on-one meetings and case studies of completed European/Canadian co-productions.

Supported financially by European Union film promotion body Media Intl., the Euro producers have been selected from participants in the EFP’s Cannes-based Producers on the Move training scheme between 2006 and 2009. Canadian participants were chosen by OMDC and the Toronto festival.
