Catalog deal will cover around 10 films
Spain’s Eddie Saeta, co-producer of this year’s Cannes Palme d’Or winner, “Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives,” has struck a strategic alliance with Argentina’s FilmSharks Intl.
Deal sees Guido Rud’s FilmSharks repping international distribution on Eddie Saeta’s catalog, plus its latest production, Jose Maria de Orbe’s “Aita,” which world preems in competition Sept. 23 at the San Sebastian Film Festival.
Owned by Luis Minarro, Barcelona-based Eddie Saeta co-produced “Uncle Boonmee” and produced Agusti Vila’s “The Mosquito Net,” which won Karlovy Vary’s top Crystal Globe in July.
Minarro has produced pics from many of Barcelona’s leading auteurs such as Isabel Coixet’s breakthrough “Things I Never Told You,” Marc Recha’s “Where Is Madame Catherine?,” Jose Luis Guerin’s “In the City of Sylvia” and Albert Serra’s “The Honor of the Knights” and “Birdsong.”
The catalog deal will cover around 10 films, Rud said.
The Eddie Saeta agreement bulks up FilmSharks’ library, which already taps titles from Argentina’s Disney-backed Patagonik Film Group and CIE-owned Altavista in Mexico.
