‘Dogtooth’ gets U.S. release

Kino Intl. will open film in New York before moving to other cities

“Dogtooth,” the Greek feature that picked up a prize from Un Certain Regard at Cannes 2009, will kick off a commercial theatrical run at Gotham’s Cinema Village in June.

Release through Kino Intl. is then planned to move to other cities in the U.S. in the summer and fall, ahead of a DVD and Blu-ray release toward the end of the year.

Feature from director Yorgos Lanthimos, which had its New York preem as part of the 2010 New Directors/New Films series, centers on a warped family living in a secluded estate, cut off from the rest of society.

“Dogtooth” opens its Gotham run June 25. Other releases on deck for Kino Intl. include “Winnebago Man” and the restoration of “Metropolis.”
