Aardman Animation series “Timmy Time” — the famed shingle’s first preschool-targeted project — is headed to Disney Channel.
“Timmy” will debut with a Sept. 7 sneak preview on the cabler, followed by an official Sept. 13 premiere. Already airing on Blighty’s Cbeebies, the stop-motion skein is a spinoff of Aardman’s other Disney Channel entry, “Shaun the Sheep,” which bowed on the network in 2008.
Timmy, the baby lamb drawn into misadventures on “Shaun,” becomes the centerpiece of stories about initial preschool experiences in his new show. Gestures and animal sounds are emphasized rather than human dialogue.
“Preschoolers can easily identify with Timmy as he learns universal lessons about himself, his friends and the world around him,” said “Timmy” creator, producer and supervising director Jackie Cockle.
Lionsgate and HIT Entertainment, DVD distributor for “Shaun,” will fill the same function for “Timmy” with a release due early next year.
