Meledandri to receive award on June 22

“Despicable Me” producer Chris Meledandri is being honored at this year’s Cinema Expo International.

He will be receiving the 2010 award for Achievement in Animated Filmmaking at the expo’s June 22 luncheon in Amsterdam. Expo director Robert Sunshine said Meledandri is being honored for his highly successful work at Illumination Entertainment and 20th Century Fox.

Meledandri is the topper of Illumination, the shingle debuting with “Despicable.” He’s best known for exec producing “Cool Runnings,” “Ice Age” and “Horton Hears a Who!”

Currently, Meledandri and Illumination are working on live-action/CG hybrid “Hop” with James Marsden and Russell Brand slated for next April.
