The Cutting Edge Group — a one-stop-shop music provider for film, television, advertising and gaming — has inked a multi-picture deal with Joel Silver’s Dark Castle Entertainment to provide music for at least a dozen of Dark Castle’s films.
First out of the gate is the comicbook-based “The Losers,” starring Zoe Saldana, scheduled for release April 23. Composer John Ottman is writing the score while Cutting Edge is overseeing music supervision.
In related news, Rochelle Sharpe has been named senior VP of Air-Edel U.S., a division of Cutting Edge. Sharpe will oversee the U.S. arm of Air-Edel, a 40-year-old, U.K.-based agency that handles composers, music editors and music supervisors. Its roster includes such composers as Oscar winner Dario Marianelli (“Atonement”), Patrick Doyle (“Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire”) and David Julyan (“The Prestige”).
While Cutting Edge covers music supervision, clearance, publishing, licensing and administration, Air-Edel is the management component of its business structure and, until recently, had no official U.S. presence. Sharpe, formerly at Marsh Management, will rep composers, music supervisors and editors in film, television and commercials at Air-Edel’s L.A. branch.
Before becoming an agent, Sharpe was manager of film music at PolyGram Film Entertainment and was an independent music supervisor. She’ll be working closely with Air-Edel’s managing director Maggie Rodford.
