Network buys environmentally friendly EcoMedia

CBS Corp. has acquired EcoMedia, an org that funds enviro-friendly public works projects with corporate ad dollars.

EcoMedia and its new owners have worked together previously on environmental projects in CBS’ local markets. In 2008, CBS and EcoMedia launched the CBS-EcoZone Green Schools Initiative in San Francisco, Miami and suburban Chicago. It raised $650,000 in products and services used to give local schools a “green makeover” that fitted buildings with solar panels and low-energy lighting.

CEO and founder Paul Polizzotto will continue to serve as prexy of EcoMedia as it becomes a division of CBS, where it will retain its name. CBS said it intends to incorporate EcoMedia’s model into all of its operating units — TV, online, radio, publishing and outdoor.
