Cartoon Network to boost foreign toons

It will open academy and studio in Abu Dhabi

Cartoon Network aims to boost the fledgling animation industry in the Middle East and North Africa by opening an animation training academy plus development and production studio at twofour54, the Abu Dhabi-based creative hub for Arabic media and entertainment.

Speaking at Mip TV on Monday, twofour54 CEO Tony Orsten said, “When we launched twofour54 this is exactly the type of partnership we envisioned — one that impacts across the full content creation chain, from training through to broadcast.

“This partnership will not only facilitate the creation of Arabic media content, but also supports our aim to develop a sustainable media and entertainment content industry in Abu Dhabi.”

The academy and studios are due to open in September.
