ABC Studios’ new police procedural “Body of Proof,” starring Dana Delany, will bow in Europe during the winter before its U.S. premiere later in 2011.
In a first for the Mouse House, a dubbed version of the show to is set to launch in January and February in Italy on Fox, in Spain on Cuatro and Fox, and in Hungary on Story4.
Other international bows for non-English-language versions of “Body of Proof” are anticipated to combat piracy.
“‘Body of Proof’ has generated buzz from pilot stage and in response to client demand we’re pleased to be bringing it to international viewers so early,” said Catherine Powell, Disney’s senior VP and general manager of media distribution in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
“Over the past few years, we have been working with our partners to create and try innovative windowing opportunities to air programming on earlier and more convenient platforms, and to offer consumers legitimate, flexible ways in which to enjoy must-see programming.”
Other U.S. studios are likely to assess how this experimental release pattern works and may follow suit.
“Body of Proof” is created by Christopher Murphey (“The Karate Kid”) and exec produced by Murphey, Matthew Gross (“Dirty Sexy Money”) and Sunil Nayar (“CSI: Miami”).
