Actress named chairman of GLAZA
Funny lady Betty White’s latest role is a bit more serious. The comedic actress has been named chairman of the Greater Los Angeles Zoo Association.
White has partnered with the zoo for 46 years and served as a GLAZA trustee for more than 30 years.
The longtime animal welfare advocate will succeed Tom Mankiewicz, who served since 2002. Mankiewicz passed away in August.
“I’m enormously honored to take on this role, especially being able to follow in the footsteps of our beloved Tom,” White said in a statement. “Of everything I do, animal well-being is my most important role, and that’s why I’ve worked with the zoo and other animal organizations for so long.”
