German film fest unveils new artwork

BERLIN — Organizers of the Berlin Film Festival have unveiled the new poster for the event that will soon be on display citywide.

The poster, which has a big “B” in its center, will first go up at Potsdamer Platz, the fest’s main location, and then all over Berlin and also adorn Berlinale publications.

The design, which has luminous beams radiating outwards, can be traced “back to poster art of the 1920s and alludes to the Berlinale’s extraordinary aura,” said the Wuppertal-based Boros Agency, which designed the artwork for the 61st Berlinale.

The fest runs Feb. 10-20.
