BBC Worldwide, the commercial arm of the BBC, has upped Gareth Williams to senior VP of content and production for South America.
Formerly director of new programming, Williams will work closely with GP Media in Argentina and Mixer in Brazil, two of the BBC’s production partners.
Williams will lead the development, pitching and executing of new formats throughout the region, forming partnerships with broadcasters and commissioners to identify new business opportunities.
Williams started out in the business as a researcher with Granada TV, working on hit shows including “You’ve Been Framed” and “Stars in Their Eyes,” before joining the BBC as a series producer.
BBC Worldwide’s local production network includes wholly owned bases in Mumbai, Paris, New York and Los Angeles; joint ventures in Cologne, Toronto, Sydney and Buenos Aires; and preferred partners in Moscow and Sao Paulo.
