BBC has a laugh with Taylor

Former C4 exec will be executive editor of comedy

The BBC has appointed Katie Taylor to the newly created post of executive editor of comedy entertainment, it was announced Tuesday.

She will work with independent and in-house program makers to find and develop content.

Taylor will join the BBC next month from Channel 4, where she has been commissioning editor of comedy and entertainment since 2002.

There she developed and managed performer-led programs including “V Graham Norton,” “Trick of the Mind,” “Derren Brown: Messiah” and “David Blaine – Above the Below.”

She will report to Jane Lush, controller of entertainment commissioning.
