Bavaria knocks out fighting shows

German regulator rules out 'Ultimate Fighter'

BERLIN — The Bavarian media regulatory commission (DLM) has struck a knock-out blow against a trio of “ultimate fighting” broadcasts on German sports web DSF, ruling they unacceptably glorify violence and must be pulled off the air.

“The Ultimate Fighter,” “UFC Unleashed” and “UFC Fight Night” have been aired between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m. on DSF and must be replaced as soon as possible, the DLM said on Friday.

“The massive amount of violence shown is not acceptable,” DLM said, criticizing in particular the beatings that some of the contestants are subjected to even after being knocked down.
