Albany buys ‘Sister Welsh’

FilmSharks sells 'Untitled,' 'Heart,' 'Milagrosa'

BUENOS AIRES — Paris-based Albany Films bought French coming-of-ager “Sister Welsh’s Nights” at Cannes.

Albany secured theatrical and video rights for France, and pay TV for Belgium, France and Switzerland. It will release the Jean-Claude Janer film in October. Deal was inked with FilmSharks Intl.

In other FilmSharks deals, S&A Pictures picked up U.S. comedy “Untitled” and Mexican thriller “Tear This Heart Out” for Korea, while Maywin Films bought “Tear This Heart Out” and Colombian kidnapping tale “La Milagrosa” for Baltic and Russian markets.

“Milagrosa” also was picked up by Splendid for German-speaking territories, Binci Media for China and LAPTV for Latin American pay TV.

FilmSharks also sold VOD online rights to its catalog of older titles like “Nine Queens” and “Amores Perros” to Spain’s Filmin and Palo Alto, California-based MUBI.
