Longtime New Line exec Camela Galano has been named to a newly created position as president of Warner Bros. international film acquisitions.
She’ll report to Richard Fox, exec VP for international for Warner Bros., and remain based at studio headquarters in Burbank. Fox made the announcement Wednesday.
Galano will be responsible for acquiring rights across all media to English-language films that aren’t produced by Warners. Studio said she’ll work closely with distribution execs as well as in-country execs.
“Cam is a smart, savvy and thoughtful business executive,” said Fox. “Her international film experience, contacts and reputation are unparalleled. Through Cam’s efforts, we will acquire films for selected international territories that will complement our own slates of studio and locally produced films in those countries.”
Galano most recently served as president of New Line Intl. Releasing, a post she held since 2001. She oversaw and managed the release of New Line films in more than 120 international territories for Warners in the past two years; New Line previously sold off international rights to its films in many overseas territories.
While at New Line, Galano served in various capacities, primarily in international sales and marketing in New York, London and L.A.
