Vachon delivers Variety lecture

Producer to give the Cinema Militans talk at fest

Producer Christine Vachon has been tapped to deliver the Variety Cinema Militans Lecture at the Netherlands Film Festival Sept. 26.

The lecture is designed to assess the “position and viability of cinema in modern society,” a theme drawn from Dutch theoretician and critic Menno ter Braak’s revolutionary essay of 1926.

Vachon and Pamela Koffler founded Killer Films in 1995, which has nutured helmers such as Todd Haynes and produced films including “I’m Not There” and “What’s Wrong With Virginia,” due to preem at the Toronto Film Festival, which starts today.
