LONDON — Fatih Akin’s comedy “Soul Kitchen” will kick off the ninth edition of Romania’s Transilvania Intl. Film Festival May 28.
Pic, which picked up a special jury prize in Venice last year, will screen at a new open air cinema in Cluj Napoca, the ancient city that hosts the fest, organizers said Monday.
Other highlights of the festival, which runs until June 6, include Francois Ozon’s “The Refuge” and “Hadewijch” by Bruno Dumont; and “Submarino” Thomas Vinterberg’s feature that screened in competition at Berlin in February.
Also, cult Romanian film director Liviu Ciulei will be one of the three directors to be honored in the 3×3 section.
