Sony ups stake in Holland’s Tuvalu

Company will act as studio's Benelux TV shingle

Sony Pictures Television has upped its stake in independent Dutch production company Tuvalu Media, giving it a majority holding.

Tuvalu will now act as SPT’s production arm across the Benelux region and represent its light entertainment catalog.

Sony’s other creative partner in Holland, Intellygents, will continue to operate as an independent brand in partnership with Tuvalu.

Move continues Sony Pictures Entertainment’s international expansion, which included the purchase of Dutch TV producer 2waytraffic in 2008.

Tuvalu deal builds on alliances with Gogglebox in the U.K., Starling in France, Teleset in Colombia and Lean-M in Russia, plus the formation of Toro Prods. in Spain and Italy.
