Prokino has picked up a bundle of titles that screened at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, including Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu’s “Biutiful” and Mike Leigh’s “Another Year.”
The Munich-based distrib also nabbed Stephen Frears’ “Tamara Drewe,” which stars Gemma Arterton as a sexy young newspaper columnist who returns to her home in the English countryside.
Inarritu’s “Biutiful,” about a Barcelona hustler facing his own mortality, won Javier Bardem best actor kudos at Cannes.
“Another Year,” which stars Jim Broadbent and Ruth Sheen, follows 12 months in the lives of an aging couple.
Prokino, which focuses on European cinema, released past Cannes titles “The Diving Bell and the Butterfly,” “Hidden,”
“Persepolis” and “Gomorrah.”
