The head of the Berlin Film Festival, Dieter Kosslick, is to receive the Heart of Sarajevo award from Bosnia’s Sarajevo Film Festival in recognition of his work to promote film from Southeast Europe.
Kosslick works closely with the Sarajevo fest. Its talent campus is a collaboration with the Berlinale Talent Campus. He will receive the honor at the opening of the fest’s 16th edition on July 23.
Previous recipients have included Marco Mueller, head of the Venice Film Festival, British director Mike Leigh and actor Steve Buscemi.
He joins Morgan Freeman as a fest special guest. Freeman will present Clint Eastwood’s “Invictus,” in which he plays South African president Nelson Mandela, as the fest’s closing gala screening July 31.
During his stay in Sarajevo, Freeman will meet young regional film professionals at the Talent Campus.
