TV shingle Kinetic Content has already signed its second U.K. deal, pacting with Scotland’s STV Group to work together on new formats.
Deal comes just days after Kinetic, launched earlier this year by former RDF USA CEO Chris Coelen, inked a programming alliance with U.K.’s Channel 4.
While the Channel 4 deal centers on developing scripted series for U.S. cable networks, the arrangement with STV Group is centered more on unscripted fare.
Under the deal, Kinetic and STV will play a bit of format quid pro quo: Kinetic will have access to existing and new formats from STV’s STV Prods. and Ginger Prods. to co-produce with STV in the U.S.
In turn, STV will secure exclusive U.K. rights to co-produce Kinetic properties.
“The international business is so important, and to generate through two production companies, as well as a company with a network attached to it, is big,” Coelen said.
Not only does this give both companies access to each other’s territories, but the partnership will use STV’s broadcast network to incubate projects.
STV director of content Alan Clements called the arrangement “a unique, forward-thinking and innovative joint venture, which presents huge opportunities for both companies in new markets.”
As part of the deal, STV will have a staff member based at Kinetic’s offices in Santa Monica. The companies are hiring staff here to work on projects for both companies.
Beyond the STV and Channel 4 deals, Kinetic also has an exclusive arrangement with Dutch distributor Absolutely Independent (“Find My Family”).
